Calcium Sulphate (often called Calc Sulph or gypsum) is a versatile mineral that has been used for thousands of years in traditional medical systems. In its raw mineral form, it is gypsum. It is primarily considered a blood purifier and a remedy for what’s called the third stage of inflammation (when there is thick, yellow discharge), as well as helping with other skin health and respiratory issues. This mineral also appears in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Ayurveda.
Calcium Sulphate (Calc Sulph) is traditionally associated with processes of cleansing and renewal within the body, and also with the removal of waste products from the bloodstream. It is described in tissue salt literature as being found primarily in the liver, where it is linked with supporting the clearing of impurities.
Often referred to as both a tissue builder and a healer, Calc Sulph is traditionally connected with wound repair, as well as broader functions throughout the body. It is commonly brought into consideration where conditions are associated with impurities in the bloodstream, inflammation, and also where there is congestion.
Cleansing and purifying
Calc Sulph is traditionally described as having a cleansing influence on the blood and the body, and also where there may be an accumulation of non-functional organic matter within the tissues.
Epithelial tissue
It is noted as a chief builder of epithelial tissue (alongside Calc Fluor) and so is associated with the maintenance and renewal of surface tissues.
Connective tissue strength
Support for the strength and integrity of connective tissue is also referenced in traditional use.
Elimination
Calc Sulph is associated with supporting the elimination of toxins from between cells, and also where natural clearing processes may feel sluggish.
Lymphatic system
Where lymphatic glands are inflamed, and also in cases such as sore breasts, fibroids, or abscesses, Calc Sulph is traditionally considered.
Skin health
Its role in the creation of new skin is often highlighted, as well as supporting a clear and healthy complexion. In traditional use, it may be considered for skin conditions including acne, dermatitis, boils, eczema, and also inflammation.
Acne
Traditionally associated with cleansing the bloodstream, and often referenced for use alongside Kali Mur.
Abscesses and wounds
Where wounds are slow to heal, and also where there may be concern around septic development, Calc Sulph is traditionally used to support drainage.
Infections
It’s considered in traditional contexts where there is discharge, sometimes yellow such as with colds, ear infections, and eye infections.
A deficiency of Calc Sulph is traditionally linked with patterns of congestion and reduced elimination.
This may include mucus congestion, and also bronchitis or lung-related conditions, alongside lymphatic congestion. Ulcers, abscesses and boils may be present, as well as general inflammation. Tonsillitis may also be noted, and in addition there may be fatigue, and also a sense of inactivity or sluggishness.
Almonds, onions, asparagus, garlic, and also watercress, mustard, leeks and radishes, as well as prunes, gooseberries, figs, black cherries, cucumbers, cauliflower, oats, lentils and peanuts.
