The striking Lion's Mane mushroom is rare in the wild, typically growing on old or dead broadleaf trees and is a much sought after culinary delicacy.

Hericium erinaceous has one of the highest protein contents of any mushroom as well as high levels of ß-D-glucans and ergosterol. It also contains two families of compounds, the hericinones and erinacines, that strongly stimulate the synthesis of Nerve Growth Factor (NGF).

The mushroom biomass we use to manufacture MycoNutri Hericium erinaceus capsules is grown for us in the USA on sterile grain-based substrate in an FDA regulated facility.

The biomass contains the full spectrum of active metabolites from the mycelium and young fruiting body of the mushroom, including beta-glucans, other intra- and extra-cellular polysaccharides, phytosterols (including ergosterol – provitamin D2), proteoglycans and diterpenoid cyathane derivatives (especially erinacines).

We then blend it with cultured Lion’s Mane fruiting body rich in hericinones in order to capture the full spectrum of this remarkable mushroom.
