The Coeliac & Gluten Sensitivity Profile (Finger Prick) helps differentiate between Coeliac Disease and gluten sensitivity by evaluating the serum titers of IgA and IgG for deamidated gliadin peptide, gliadin, and gluten. This test is useful for those who want an insight into how gluten may potentially be affecting their health if they have any symptom exacerbation from dietary intake of gluten or ongoing gastrointestinal problems. It may also be useful for those who have tested positive for the HLA DQ2 / DQ8 genotypes, family history of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, elevated liver function tests, bone demineralisation or impaired absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, iron, B12 and folic acid.
Note that this is an entry level and easy access test to assess immune responses to gluten. More advanced tests are also undertaken to look at a number of other gluten response markers as explained during the Nutrition Consultation process.
As with the majority of our Functional Tests and in accordance with clinical guidelines, a full Initial Nutrition Consultation is required before running this test with a member of our Nutritional Therapy team. The practitioner can then assess your needs and provide guidance on a Nutrition Plan which may include recommendations for Functional Nutrition Tests if these are deemed useful to influence the guidance. A full test interpretation is then provided during a Follow Up Nutrition Consultation with recommendations put in place taking into account your test results alongside your clinical presentation and health goals.
